The Deputy Superintendent of Police interfered with the conduct of Chirakkadavu Temple Festival in the name of maintenance of law and order as it was done in the last year creating trouble for the smooth conduct of the festival effectively preventing the use of saffron flags and festoons/decorations representing Hindu religion for the temple processions or floats misusing his powers under the influence of local Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers thereby causing serious hindrance to conduct of the temple festival and was harassing the devotees.

The High court interfered and prevented the interference and permitted the hoisting of saffron flags.
